As your feet step off the pier and onto the boat, the rope tying it to the shore unravels, and the boat slowly floats away from land and into the open ocean. It doesn't even cross your mind to try and stop it. Surrounded by the scent of the sea and the whisper of the waves, for once, you feel free.
You sit on the deck of the boat and watch the shoreline recede.
